ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Henderson will remain at Clyde Berry Field where it just won its biggest series of the season over No. 9 Southern Arkansas when it hosts Mississippi College Tuesday, Mar. 14 at 3 p.m. Earlier this season, HSU fell to the Choctaws on the road, 18-8.
REDDIES REPORT (13-9, 7-5 GAC)
Henderson won the first two games against No. 9 Southern Arkansas this past weekend thanks to a gem from starting pitcher
Ryan Galvan in game one and an epic ninth-inning rally in game two. Galvan's performance earned him the GAC Pitcher of the Week after six innings of work after allowing five hits and one run.
In game two, Henderson trailed SAU 5-2 heading into the ninth inning. With two outs against them, the Reddies strung together six consecutive hits to pull off the comeback and clinch the series after just two games, 6-5. The victory marked the Muleriders' first series loss of the season.
Kaden Argenbright played his best series of the conference season against SAU, hitting .455 on five hits while logging four RBIs across the three games. Argenbright's big weekend now has him third on the team with a .321 batting average and tied for second with 27 hits (
Luke Rice).
Greyson Stevens still leads the club with 35 hits.
In the season's first meeting against Mississippi College, heavy winds played a strong factor as the teams combined to hit eight home runs, five of which came off the Choctaw bats.
Luke Farrar,
Dillon Thomas and Rice each claimed two hits that afternoon from the Magnolia State, though MC came away with the 18-8 victory.    Â
SCOUTING MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE (7-15, 3-6 GSC)
Despite its record, Mississippi College has laid claim to some huge wins this season, including a 16-3 defeat of then-No. 3 Southern Arkansas and a 4-3 triumph over then-No. 2 Tampa, both of which came at home. After an 11-game home stand, Tuesday's game at Clyde Berry Field will be the Choctaw's first road game since Saturday, Feb. 19, where they are 2-5.
Sophomore outfielder JT Vance is first on the team with a .358 batting average and second with 24 hits, behind junior infielder Caleb Reese with 25. Reese also leads the team with nine of the club's 33 home runs. The Choctaws have 61 extra-base hits through 22 games compared to Henderson's 79 extra-base hits, which is fourth in the GAC.
Mississippi College has a team ERA of 6.66 with its two most used arms in Gavin LeBlanc and Kyle Collet carrying a 7.12 ERA and an 8.03 ERA, respectively. In six of MC's 15 losses, they have allowed double-digit runs. Â
