Taylor, Pozvai Named NSISC Performers of the Year

CLEVELAND, Miss. - Henderson State swimming's Kiara Pozvai and Lamar Taylor were named the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Female and Male Performers of the Year, the conference announced Tuesday.

The yearly accolade comes after both Pozvai and Taylor received First Team All-NSISC honors after the duo was named Female and Male Swimmers of the Meet at the 2024 NSISC Championships.

Capping off each of their 2023-24 seasons was the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships, where both Pozvai and Taylor won the National Title in the 100-yard freestyle.

Pozvai became the first female in Henderson State Athletics history to capture a National Title in any sport in addition to claiming two more Top-5 finishes at Nationals while Taylor claimed what was at the time his fifth career National Championship.

The Freeport, Bahamas, native would add one more to his illustrious career before the week was over, thus making him the most decorated athlete in Henderson State Athletics history.

At Henderson State's annual Redspys Awards show on Monday, Apr. 15, Pozvai and Taylor both went home with the Female and Male Athletes of the Year award.

Both Pozvai and Taylor will head into the summer with hopes of representing their respective countries at the summer Olympics in Paris, France this July.
