Reddies Face Tigers in Non-Conference Action Tuesday

COVERAGE LINKS

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - With Henderson State set to take on Ouachita Baptist in a three-game GAC series at the end of the regular season, the Reddies will first meet the Tigers in non-conference action for the second time this season at Rab Rodgers Field Tuesday, Apr. 9 at 3 p.m.

REDDIES REPORT (19-19, 13-11 GAC)
Henderson State dropped to a tie for sixth in the conference standings after falling to Arkansas-Monticello in its three-game series this past weekend. The Reddies now have three GAC weekend series' remaining before the eight-team GAC Tournament begins Friday, May 3. Before that, HSU will aim to even the season-series with Ouachita.

Henderson and the Tigers met earlier this season at Rab Rodgers Field in a non-conference game. The Reddies managed just five hits as OUA took the season's first meeting, 5-1. Tuesday will mark the final non-conference meeting between the cross-street rivals this season before the two meet in league play at Clyde Berry Field Apr. 26-27.

Kaden Argenbright extended his hitting streak to a career-best 16 games, which is currently tied for the third longest such streak in program history and is the longest for an HSU player since 2015. Argenbright now leads four Reddie batters who are all hitting .312 or better while Louis Holt paces the clubhouse with a .463 on-base percentage.

Tuesday will be the 249th all-time meeting between the two Arkadelphia schools with Ouachita Baptist leading the overall series, 124-122-2. Though both teams have split the last four meetings, HSU has lost each of its last two trips across Highway 7, having scored just one total run in in the pair of contests.

SCOUTING OUACHITA BAPTIST (21-17, 13-11 GAC)
Ouachita Baptist has dropped five of its last six GAC games but split its last non-conference doubleheader against Arkansas-Monticello. The Tigers won the first game against the Boll Weevils, 14-8, before dropping the second, 7-6. Overall, OUA is 8-6 in non-conference games this season.

Senior infielder Michael Quinones' .379 batting average is heading Ouachita's team-batting average of .287. Kyzer Smith, who started at pitcher in the season's first meeting with the Reddies, has seen the most work of anyone out of the bullpen, carrying a 5.26 ERA. Quinones recorded three hits and two RBI in the first Battle of the Ravine of 2024.
