ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The Red Wave made a statement at home this Friday inside the Wells Natatorium, as the No. 17 Henderson State men powered past No. 16 Delta State 160–101, while the women battled the nation's No. 11 Lady Statesmen in a hard-fought dual, falling 194–55.
The Red Wave men set the tone right from the start, opening the night with a commanding win in the 400 medley relay, as Avery Henke, Oskar Cebula, Colin Candebat, and Vitor Sa clocked a 3:27.34 to give HSU the early lead. Bartu Akin kept the energy rolling with a dominant performance in the 1650 freestyle, winning with a time of 16:16.85.
Momentum stayed firmly with Henderson throughout the evening. Candebat picked up another victory in the 200 freestyle (1:43.15), while Hunter Rytting led a strong Red Wave showing in the backstroke, taking first in the 100 backstroke (52.12) and later earning another win in the 400 IM (4:09.02).
Nojus Skirutis turned in an impressive double, claiming the 200 butterfly (1:52.97) and 200 backstroke (1:53.85), while Scott Doll sprinted to victory in the 100 freestyle (46.89). The men sealed the night with a statement finish in the 200 freestyle relay, as Sa, Gavin Kock, Doll, and Tristin Ferguson combined for a 1:25.34 to cap off the meet in dominant fashion.
On the women's side, Iris McNamara led the Red Wave with runner-up finishes in both the 200 freestyle (1:59.30) and 500 freestyle (5:25.62). Daniela Ruiz added strong swims in the 1650 freestyle and 400 IM, while Raven Roberts, Shelby Travis, and Emma Crowe each contributed valuable points across sprint and relay events. The women's 400 medley relay team of Crowe, Monroe Chittum, Roberts, and Travis also got the meet started with a solid effort.
The Red Wave returns to action later this month, traveling to Cleveland, Mississippi, for the Delta State Invitational, held November 20-23 at Delta State University.
