Reddies to Host ECU in GAC Opening Weekend

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.  —  Henderson State is set to open its highly-anticipated 2025 GAC schedule with a three-game series against East Central this weekend at Clyde Berry Field.

Games one and two will be played as a doubleheader on Sunday, February 16, with the first game starting at 1 p.m. The Reddies and Tigers will wrap up their three-game set with a single game at the Clyde at noon on Monday, February 17.

REDDIE REPORT
Henderson State aims to win its conference series against ECU for a 10th consecutive season. HSU has won 12 of its last 14 games against the Tigers.

The Reddies wrapped up last week's HSU Baseball Invitational with a 5-3 win over Emporia State. Ryan Galvan earned his first win of the year by allowing one earned run and striking out four in five innings of work.

Jeremy Schork enters the East Central series leading the Great American Conference and tied for second in NCAA Division II with five home runs. He also leads all qualified Reddie batters in runs batted in (13), slugging percentage (.871), and OPS (1.315).

Alex Galvan leads the team with a .409 batting average. The junior from Texarkana, Texas, launched a three-run home run on February 9 to give the Reddies the lead over Emporia State.

Luke Rice boasts a team-high .483 on-base percentage thus far in 2025. The first baseman reached safely in all four of his plate appearances against No. 17 Augustana on February 8.

Cole Rodriguez gave up only one earned run against regionally-ranked Central Oklahoma on February 7 (no-decision).

SCOUTING ECU
East Central looks to win its GAC series against Henderson for the first time since 2014. The Tigers have never won a conference series at Clyde Berry Field.

Although ECU dropped its first six contests in 2025, the Tigers picked up a 13-0 run-rule victory in seven innings in their last game at Fort Hays State on February 8.

Ryan Strickland boasts the team's top OPS at .882. He hit a two-run homer in the Tigers' win at FHSU.

Weldon Sherrell holds ECU's top batting average at .318 and best on-base percentage at .448. He is also tied for first on the team with seven hits, with all seven being singles. The Rhome, Texas, native went three-for-three in East Central's season opener versus regionally-ranked Pitt State.

Starting pitcher Ezra Gustafson has recorded back-to-back quality starts to open the season. He allowed one earned run across six innings in a loss against Central Oklahoma before going the distance in the shutout win at Fort Hays State.
