ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State is set to play its first GAC road series of 2025 at Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant this weekend. The series with open with a single game on Saturday, February 22, at 2 p.m. The Reddies and Savage Storm will then face off in a doubleheader beginning at noon on Sunday, February 23.
REDDIE REPORT
Henderson State opened Great American Conference play with a series win over East Central. The Reddies took two of three from the Tigers, plating 26 total runs in the process.
Luke Rice hit .417 and drove in five runs during last weekend's series. He has recorded a multi-hit game in five of his last seven outings. The first baseman currently boasts a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage through 82 opportunities in 2025.
Jeremy Schork has hit six home runs thus far in 2025, tying him with Northwestern Oklahoma State's Chad Green for the most in the Great American Conference. The Fenton, Missouri, native leads the team's qualified batters in homers, runs batted in (15), OPS (1.362), and walks (10). He reached safely in all four of his plate appearances during the rubber match with ECU, including a two-run home run.
Alex Galvan heads to Durant with an even .400 batting average and .500 on-base percentage on the year. He has hit safely in nine consecutive games for HSU.
Luke Farrar had a three-hit performance - including a three-run big fly - in game two against the Tigers. He scored four times during the opening weekend of GAC play.
Cole Rodriguez recorded his first win and first quality start of the season in the series-clinching victory versus East Central on Monday. He allowed just one earned run and two hits while striking out seven across six innings of work.
Payton Byrd and Tyler Bates both recorded a save in HSU's first conference series. Bates posted a nine-out save in Monday's rubber match.
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE
Southeastern Oklahoma State prepares to host its GAC opener after dropping two games and its series against Ouachita Baptist on Monday. The Savage Storm won the conference opener against the Tigers by a score of 4-1. SEOSU held OBU to one run in two of the series' three games.
The Savage Storm has split its last two season series with Henderson. The Reddies won the 2024 series two to one; Southeastern won its last three-game set with HSU at Mike Metheny Field two games to one in 2023.
Brady Evans paces the team with a 1.142 OPS, three home runs (tied), 10 runs scored, and six hit-by-pitches. He went two-for-four with a solo home run in the series opener at Ouachita Baptist.
Mitchell Wesley leads the Savage Storm with three home runs (tied), 12 runs batted in, and 21 total bases. The senior from Katy, Texas, is also two-for-two on stolen base attempts.
Payton Poole and Ryan Kirk each have 11 hits up to this point in the campaign. Both men carry an OPS of .965 or higher.
Daniel Collins tops the team leaderboard with a 2.03 earned run average and 20 strikeouts through 13.1 innings pitched. He struck out eight batters and allowed one earned run and two hits in 4.1 innings against Ouachita Baptist on Monday.
Although he was tacked with a losing decision in a 1-0 defeat, Michael White recorded a quality start in the second game of the OBU series by striking out nine and allowing one earned run on two hits through 7.1 innings.
