RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Henderson State senior second baseman Luke Farrar was named GAC Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Farrar, from Calhoun, Louisiana, has been on a tear this spring and his hot streak at the plate continued this past week. In four contests, Farrar was 8-for-19 at the plate (.421) with seven RBIs, two doubles, two home runs, 10 runs scored, two walks and two stolen bases.
On Saturday, Farrar's batting average topped .400 for the season, and currently sits at .403, which ranks third among all qualified players in the GAC. He leads the conference with 50 hits this season and is second in RBIs (40) and third in runs scored (36).
Farrar's big week helped Henderson State go 4-0 in contests against Southern Arkansas and Southern Nazarene. The Reddies are 9-3 in their last 12 GAC contests and have won four-consecutive weekend series.
The Reddies will look to keep things rolling this weekend when they host Southern Arkansas for a pivotal GAC series on Friday and Saturday at Clyde Berry Field.
