ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Division II Conference Commissioners Association released their All-America teams Wednesday, and two Henderson State student-athletes were named as part of the teams or as an honorable mention. HSU was the only Great American Conference school with multiple athletes named to these teams.
For the second time in as many weeks, Henderson State's
Payton Byrd has earned All-American honors; the Warren, Arkansas native was named to the third team. He finished tied for second in all of Division II with 13 saves on the season, and also led the Reddies in appearances, strikeouts, batting average against, and WHIP. Byrd was also named All-GAC First Team, All-GAC Tournament Team, D2CCA All-Central Region Team, and NCBWA First Team All-American.
Luke Farrar was named an Honorable Mention All-American. The Calhoun, Louisiana native had a .320 batting average for the season while leading the team in at-bats, runs, hits, and doubles. Farrar was second on the team in OPS, home runs, RBI, and slugging percentage.
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
