Byrd Named Second Team All-American by ABCA/Rawlings

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The 2025 ABCA/Rawlings Division II All-America teams were announced Friday. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.

Henderson State's Payton Byrd has been named by the organization as a member of the Second Team. This honor comes as Byrd has already been named to two other All-American teams, as previously announced by D2CCA and NCBWA.

Byrd, a senior reliever from Warren, Arkansas, becomes the first Reddie since Bryant Haralson and just the second player in school history to be named a unanimous All-American, having been named to all three major All-America teams.

Byrd led the Henderson pitching staff in most statistical categories, including ERA, strikeouts, and batting average against; his 13 saves on the season led all of Division II for most of the season and finished tied for second nationally. Byrd helped lead the Reddies to another NCAA Division II regional tournament appearance in 2025.

The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
