Henderson State Announces Nationwide Search for Women's Flag Football Coach

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State Director of Athletics Seth Dutton has announced a nationwide search for the first flag football coach in program history, as announced Friday.

The announcement comes on the heels of the university's historic expansion of women's sports, which was announced in June. "The growth of Henderson State as a school and an athletic department has been exponential over the last three years," said Dutton. "We are looking for someone to join us and continue the momentum of Reddie athletics and continue to elevate the championship standard that has been set." Henderson State was the first school in the Great American Conference footprint to add women's flag football as a varsity sport.

The growth of flag football is due in large part to a significant investment and strategic planning from the National Football League and its partners. The NFL has pledged over $190 million since the end of 2025. The NCAA added flag football to its Emerging Sports for Women program in January 2026, with the goal of a championship beginning in 2028. Nearly 400 colleges nationwide will play in the spring of 2027 at either the club or varsity level throughout all three NCAA divisions as well as NAIA.

The head flag football coach position at Henderson State has an anticipated start date of January 4, 2027. Candidates interested in this position may apply at the link here.
