Women's Golf in Third After Day One of Hardscrabble Invitational

FORT SMITH, Ark. – Henderson State women's golf sits in third place through two rounds of the Hardscrabble Invitational at Hardscrabble Country Club in Fort Smith. The Reddies sit 12 strokes behind leader Arkansas Tech with one round remaining.

HSU was led by Lily Nelson, who sits in a three-way tie for fifth place after rounds of 74 and 76. Nelson recorded a single birdie in each of Monday's two rounds and is just nine strokes behind leader Ellen Spigner of Arkansas Tech.


Isabella Ferreira carded scores of 77 and 76 and joins Nelson in the top-ten at 13-over for the tournament. The graduate student recorded five birdies on the 36-hole day.


Hailey Coleman and Paulina Narvaez are part of a five-way tie for 19th place individually. Coleman turned in scores of 79 and 77, with a single birdie coming in each round. Narvaez bounced back from an opening round 80 with a second round 76, including two birdies.


Lora Jones rounded out the Henderson scoreboard with rounds of 80 and 85. Jones's first round included two birdies in a span of three holes.


The Reddies are scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday for the final round of the Hardscrabble Invitational.
