Reddie Baseball to Honor Tipton with Clyde Berry Award

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The Reddie baseball program announced on Wednesday that Denny Tipton, Reddie baseball alum and long-time high school baseball coach, will be the recipient of the third annual Clyde Berry Award.

Named for the legendary former skipper of the Reddies, the award will be presented annually to a former Reddie baseball player or Henderson State alum who has pursued a career in coaching baseball and has exemplified excellence both on and off the diamond.

For 25 years as the head baseball coach at Sylvan Hills, Coach Tipton built one of the state's top baseball programs. Under his leadership, his teams appeared in six state finals, captured four state championships, and won 15 conference titles. He amassed an impressive 519 career wins, including an 82% winning percentage in conference play, a testament to the consistency, competitiveness, and excellence of his teams year after year. Tipton's outstanding leadership has earned him widespread recognition, including the Arkansas Democrat Coach of the Year award and more than 10 Conference Coach of the Year honors. He has also played an influential role in the sport across the state, serving on the Arkansas Activities Association Baseball Advisory Board. In addition to his coaching success, Coach Tipton served as Athletic Director at Sylvan Hills from 2007 to 2025, overseeing major campus facility improvements and playing a key role in strategic fundraising and athletic development.

Tipton was named head baseball coach at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock in the summer of 2025. Under his leadership, the Bruins have started hot, with an overall record of 15-1 and an undefeated 6-0 mark in 4A-5 North play.

Coach Tipton holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Henderson State University and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Central Arkansas. Known for cultivating teams that play with toughness, discipline, and a high standard of execution, Tipton is a proven program builder and a fierce competitor.

The Clyde Berry Award will be presented to Denny Tipton on the field prior to first pitch of Saturday's doubleheader at 12 p.m. against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
