Reddies Suffer First Conference Loss

A 21-6 run that started with 6:59 remaining in the game and lasted nearly six full minutes fueled a 77-65 win for Southeastern State Oklahoma University on Thursday night in Durant, Okla. The loss hands the Henderson State Men's Basketball team their first loss in Great American Conference play this season.

The Reddies (7-6, 2-1 GAC) did not hold a lead at any point in the game, but got as close as four points late in the second half, 54-50, as Denzel Lyles nailed a three-pointer, capping a 7-1 Reddie run. The back-breaking Savage Storm (5-10, 1-2 GAC) would start on the ensuing possession as Urald King hit a jumper in the paint.

Despite the lengthy scoring drought during the Savage Storm's run, the Reddies closed out the final 1:15 of the game on a 12-4 run to cut the final deficit to 12 points.

Kajaun Watson and Lyles were the two to reach double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively, while Josh French scored nine points, and Andrew Ensley and Joe McCoy each had eight points. Both Ensley and French were forces on the glass as the two combined for 23 of the Reddies' 44 total rebounds. Ensley finished with 13 boards, while French recorded 10.

The Reddies were able to force 22 turnovers and came away with 16 steals, but the Savage Storm made the most of their non-turnover possessions as they shot 24-of-50 (48 percent) from the floor for the game.
