Harding Ends HSU's 4-Game Win Streak

Harding fed off of a standing room only crowd of more than 3,000 strong to knock off Henderson State 78-62, Saturday at the Rhodes Fieldhouse in Searcy, Ark.

Henderson State, 11-7 overall and 6-2 in the Great American Conference, suffered from dismal shooting and poor rebounding as the Reddies' four-game winning streak came to an end.

The first half saw the Reddies build an early 15-10 lead as Henderson went on a 9-0 run capped by a 3-point field goal by Denzel Lyles.

The Bisons then went on a 15-6 run of their own as Bradley Spencer hit a pair of jumpers and a trey to give the home team a 25-21 advantage with 6:03 remaining in the half.

The Reddies were able to draw even after a pair of Joe McCoy free throws before Zach Roddenberry gave Harding a 35-33 lead at the break.

Harding, 10-8 overall and 5-3 in the GAC, began the second half on fire as the Bisons went on a 7-0 run hitting its first three field goals and extend the lead to 42-33 before KaJuan Watson ended the Reddie drought with a 12-foot jumper.

However, Harding continued to use aggressive rebounding including having 20 offensive rebounds leading to 19 second chance points to take control of the second half.

Andrew Ensley led the Reddies with 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Watson scored 11 points. Josh French also scored in double-figures for the Reddies having 10 points and 6 boards.

Roddenberry led the Bisons with 14 points while also pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds.

Lyles, who totaled 75 points in the previous three games for the Reddies, was limited to just 8 points on 2-of-9 shooting from the floor.

Henderson State shot 33 percent for the game making 22-of-67 attempts including just 29 percent shooting in the second half.

Harding hit on 24-of-58 shots from the field for 41 percent, and nailed 7-of-20 3-point field goals.
