Reddies Split Twinbill With Cameron

Brittain Diamond turned in a masterful pitching performance to lead Henderson State to an 8-0 win over Cameron in the first game of a double-header, Saturday at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.

The Aggies managed to come-from-behind to win game two, 6-5 in 8 innings to salvage one game in the four-game series.

In the opener, Henderson State banged out 12 hits including getting a 4-for-4 performance by Josh Salmon. Salmon also had a pair of RBI and a double in the game.

Connor Brackhahn went 3-for-3 in the game with a double, four runs scored and a RBI, while Taylor Coleman managed to go 3-for-4.

Diamond pitched 6 innings for the Reddies allowing just four hits while striking out four batters. No Aggie player reached third third-base in the game.

It looked as if the Reddies were going to complete the four-game sweep of Cameron as Henderson jumped out to a 4-1 lead with the help of a two-run single by Diamond in the first-inning and a RBI single by Michael Corso in the third-inning.

Henderson State, 3-1 on the year, added a run in the sixth-inning when Mitch Frey hit a sacrifice fly to drive home Jordan Trosclair who pinch-ran for Hunter Mayall after leading off the inning with a single.

However, the Aggies scored four runs off of four Reddie relievers to tie the score at 5-5. Reddie relievers gave up four hits and walked three batters in the inning.

Cameron, 7-4 on the season, scored the eventual game-winning run in the eighth-inning as Kaleb Brawner hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Benshell Garcia who led off the inning with a walk.

Brackhahn and Salmon again led the Reddie offense with two hits each.
Taylor Coleman went 7-for-11 in the four game weekend series, while Brackhahn was 6-for-10 with 7 runs scored. Salmon also had some impressive numbers going 8-for-14 with 4 RBI.

Henderson State will next play host to Lyon College in a double-header beginning at Noon on Tuesday, Feb. 14. at Clyde Berry Field.
