Ouachita Baptist used 9-of-11 shooting from the foul line in overtime to beat Henderson State 93-86, Monday at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.
The Tigers, 13-10 overall and 6-7 in the Great American Conference trailed the entire second half until Nigel Ramsey hit three free throws to tie the game at 76-76 with 17 seconds remaining in the regulation.
Henderson State, 15-8 and 10-3, had one last chance to win the game, but Jonathan Fitzgerald was stripped of the basketball as time expired.
In the overtime period, OBU took an 83-79 lead on back-to-back layups by Emmanuel Engulu with 3:07 remaining in the extra period. Henderson State never recovered as the Reddies were 2-for-7 down the stretch and missed 3-of-4 free throws.
The sharp-shooting of Austin Mitchell kept the Tigers in the game during regulation as he hit 7 of 12 3-point field goals and ended with a game-high 30 points.
The Reddies struggled from long range hitting just 3-of-17 shots for just 18 percent shooting.
Andrew Ensley led Henderson State with 23 points while grabbing 13 rebounds. Fitzgerald followed with 17 points, while Denzel Lyles was limited to 14 points.
Four other Tigers scored in double figures including Ramsey with 16 points and Michael Morris with 15.
OBU ended the game shooting 57 percent from the field (30-of-53), while the Reddies shot 46 percent (34-of-74).
The Reddies will travel to Magnolia, Ark. on Thursday to face Southern Arkansas with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
