Sophomore men's golfer Matt Jennings ended the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Midwest/South Central Regional with a +4 (76) and is tied for 46th place as an individual participant. The three-day tournament, which is being held at the Jefferson City Country Club, boasts a field of 108 golfers.
 
Jennings began his day on the back-9 and pared three of the first four holes. Bogeys on holes 11, 14, 15, and 17 put Jennings at +4. Making the turn to the front-9, Jennings took a stroke away after he birdied the 381-yard, par-4 hole 1. Following a par on hole two, Jennings bogeyed the par-3 third to go back to +4.
 
Six consecutive pars to close out the round kept Jennings in the middle of the pack with two rounds to go. Only 11 golfers turned in rounds of Even or better.
