Yabandith, Reddies Take Second at MSSU Fall Invite

JOPLIN, Mo. – Henderson State used a career-low round from Brandon Yabandith to hold on to second place Tuesday, finishing as runners-up at the MSSU Fall Invite at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club.

Arkansas Tech took home the team championship with a team score of 24 under par, 19 strokes better than the second-place Reddies, who finished five-under-par. Northwestern Oklahoma (-4), Missouri Southern (+5), and Drury (+9) rounded out the top five.

Yabandith led the way for Henderson on Tuesday with a six-under 66. The freshman rocketed 10 spots up the leaderboard, using seven birdies to finish the week after back-to-back even-par rounds on Monday to take home a solo second place. Yabandith finishes the fall with today's second-place finish to go with an individual championship in Memphis.

Alex Cuadrado overcame a two-hole stretch of three-over to shoot an even-par 72 on the day. The sophomore birdied four holes on the day, including three in a row on the fifth, sixth, and seventh holes of the day, and finished in a tied for fifth individually.

Colin Purifoy, Brode Horton, and Bailey Doe all carded rounds of four-over 76 in Tuesday's third round. Purifoy and Horton each managed two birdies in the round, while Doe only managed one, but also turned in one fewer bogey than his teammates. Purifoy finished alone in 13th place, Horton finished in a tie for 18th, and Doe ended the tournament in a tie for 28th.

Everson Adams played the tournament as an individual and turned in a seven-over 79 on the day. The sophomore had 12 pars on the day, including four in a row to end his day; he finished in a tie for 56th place.

The Reddies concluded their fall season with this week's tournament, and now look to their spring season, which commences with the Texarkana Invitational. The tournament, hosted by Texas A&M-Texarkana, will tee off from the Texarkana Country Club on Monday, February 22nd.
