REDDIES TO ENTERTAIN EAST CENTRAL OKLAHOMA

Henderson State returns home Thursday, as the Reddies play host to East Central with tip-off against the Tigers set for 7:30 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.

Henderson State enters the game with an 8-11 record overall and a 4-7 mark in Great American Conference play having lost its last two games. The Reddies are just 2-5 this season at home.            

Despite dropping five of their last seven games, the Reddies remain as the top shooting team in the GAC with a 47.0 field goal percentage.
 
In the last five games, Melvin Haynes has averaged 16.0 points per game and is shooting 43 percent from 3-point range. Haynes is averaging 13.1 points for the year and leads the team with 42 baskets from the 3-point arc.
 
Deoirvay Johnson averages 13.4 points per game off the bench and leads the Reddies in scoring.
 
Taylor Smith is averaging 11.1 points per game and leads the GAC in 3-point shooting hitting on 51 percent of his attempts (31-of-61). Smith scored 12 points and had 9 rebounds in the first game against ECU this year.
 
Ronald Lawson is averaging 10.7 points and a team-best 7.2 rebounds per game.             
                       
East Central has won its last three games and are second in the GAC standings with an 11-6 record overall and an 8-3 mark in league play.
 
The Tigers average 73.8 points per game, while limiting their opponents to 68.3 points per contest.
 
Colby Carr leads the Tigers in scoring, averaging 15.3 points per contest and also leads the team in assists with 50. Carr scored 12 points and was 6-for-6 from the foul line earlier this year against the Reddies.          


Brandon Lucas follows averaging 13.4 points per game. Lucas, who is averaging 15.9 points in GAC play, shoots 81 percent from the foul line and averages 4.9 rebounds per game.
 
A.J. Moutry is ECU's big 3-point shooter, leading the team with 41 trifectas and is shooting 43 percent from beyond the arc. Moutry is averaging 11.1 points per game.
 
The two teams met earlier this season with the Reddies winning 75-67. Five different Reddies scored in double figures with Melvin Haynes leading the way with 15 points, while Reggie Murphy scored 14.
 
Ronald Lawson and Taylor Smith added 12 points each with Kevin Kozan ending the game with 11.
 
HSU shot 44 percent (25-for-57) in the game, while ECU was held to 33 percent (21-for-63) from the floor.
           
Henderson State leads the all-time series having an 11-8 advantage in a series which The Reddies have won the last five straight meeting against East Central. The Tigers last beat the Reddies during the 1991 season.
