REDDIES TO FACE UAM SATURDAY

Henderson State will attempt to rebound from its first Great American Conference loss since 2011 as the Reddies play host to Arkansas-Monticello, Saturday with kickoff set for 3 p.m.
 
This week's game features Military Appreciation and Family Day with several activities surrounding the game.
As part of Military Appreciation Day all current and former military servicemen and women and their immediate family will receive FREE entry to the game.
 
Military Appreciation Day begins with the awarding of the Vietnam Memorial Scholarship on the Henderson State Quad at 10 a.m.

Following the ceremony, a scholarship reception will take place along with a military tailgate located on the west side of Wells Gymnasium. The military tailgate will feature several military vehicles and displays. 

Henderson State will also welcome a number of local Junior ROTC programs to the game, who will participate in a parade at halftime. 

A limited number of Military Camo Reddie baseball hats will be on sale at the Reddie Bookstore stand on game day. Hats will be priced at $20 with $5 from each sale being donated to the Henderson State ROTC program. 

Saturday's game day will also serve as family day as Henderson State students, faculty and staff welcome their families to campus. Family day events include a Rib & Salsa cook-off, family trivia, DJ, inflatables, face tattoos, Cajun Snow snow cones and cotton candy. 

The Reddies enter the game against the Boll Weevils averaging 482.6 yards of offense per game. Henderson was limited to 356 yards of offense last week against Harding. Last year against UAM, the Reddies compiled just 346 yards of offense and totaled just 194 passing yards.        

Kevin Rodgers has completed 67.6 percent of his passes (202-of-299) for an average of 304.2 yards per game. The Reddie signal caller ranks eighth in NCAA history in career passing yards. In 2013 against UAM, Rodgers completed 21-of-34 passes for 194 yards and did not throw a touchdown.  

Darius Davis is attempting to become the first Reddie to have over 1000 yards receiving in back-to-back years. The senior from Frisco, Texas has 40 catches for 916 yards for an average of 114.5 yards per game.       

Joseph Snapp follows with 38 catches for 464 yards and is averaging 58.0 yards per contest, with Corey Chappell having 29 receptions for 294 yards.   

Henderson's defense leads the GAC in sacks with 23 and ranks second in the league in total defense allowing 284.4 yards per game.            

Josh Davis leads the team with 51 tackles including 5.0 tackles for lost yardage with Lawson Schulz following with 47 tackles including 4.5 for loss.
 
Arkansas-Monticello enters Saturday's game against Henderson State with a 2-5 overall record following a 44-37 win last week at Southern Nazarene.         

The Weevils have the GAC's best passing defense at 156.0 yards given up per game. However, UAM now ranks last in the league in rushing defense, giving up on average almost 257 yards per outing.           

On offense, UAM ranks fourth in the league in passing offense (268.4 per game) and ninth in rushing offense (96.4 per game).

Individually, quarterback Hunter Leppert has thrown for 1,503 yards on 130 completions. The Minden, La. has thrown just one interception this season, countered by 10 touchdown passes. Last week against Southern Nazarene, Leppert completed 20-of-37 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns to earn GAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.     

Running back Rod Smith currently leads the Weevils with 395 rushing yards on 113 carries, including seven rushing touchdowns.   

Deadrien Terry has taken over the top spot on the receiving yards chart with 31 catches for 421 yards. Cody Bordelon is another threat at wide receiver having 26 receptions for 353 yards and a team best four touchdowns.         

Defensively, safety Anthony HughHSU es leads the Weevils with 42 tackles so far. Defensive end Louis Curry leads the team with 4.5 quarterback sacks. Curry also has a team-best 9.0 tackles for lost yardage and two forced fumbles.     

Defensive back Mike Early has four interceptions for 111 yards including one return for a touchdown.  

Arkansas-Monticello and Henderson State meet for the 77th time in a series which dates back to 1914. The Reddies lead the series 44-30-2 including having won seven of the last eight meetings. The Reddies are 23-26-2 at home against UAM. Coach Scott Maxfield is 7-1 all-time against UAM with the lone loss being a 51-48 setback in 2008.
      
FIRST AND TEN
• Henderson State will attempt to record its sixth straight non-losing season at home this weekend against Arkansas-Monticello. The Reddies have a 23-7 record at home since the 2009 season.           
• The Reddie defense is averaging 8.2 tackles for lost yardage per game and have recorded 10 or more tackles for loss three times including a season-best 12 against Arkansas Tech. Henderson also had a best 7.0 sacks against the Wonder Boys.   
• Darius Davis has recorded at least one catch in 35 consecutive games and 38 of 42 games during his career.    
• Glennon Bobo had a season-high 11 tackles against Harding. Bobo has recorded a tackle for loss in every game except for the Nicholls State game.
• Corey Chappell had a career-high 195 all-purpose yards against Harding. Chappell caught seven passes for 73 yards, rushed for 10 yards, and totaled 112 yards in kick returns. It was the third time in his career he has gone over the 100 yard mark.
