REDDIES LOSE TO ARKANSAS TECH 76-54

Arkansas Tech used an explosive second-half to get past Henderson State 76-54, Saturday in men's basketball action at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville, Ark.

The Wonder Boys, 9-10 overall and 5-6 in the Great American Conference went on a 20-0 run to begin the second half to overcome a five-point halftime deficit.

Henderson State held a 38-33 halftime lead as Reggie Murphy dominated the Reddies' inside game having 10 points and 10 rebounds in the first 20 minutes.

Kevin Kozan picked up where he left off on Thursday against Ouachita Baptist hitting four 3-point field goals, including three straight to help the Reddies take a 19-17 lead.

The lead changed hands seven times the next six minutes before the Reddies went on a 6-0 run to take a 31-25 lead at the 4:29 mark with the help of a pair of jumpers by Rashad Perkins.

Henderson State, 8-9 overall and 5-6 in the GAC, led by as many as nine points as Kozan busted a trifecta at the 2:44 mark to make the score 36-27.

Arkansas Tech's second-half run was sparked by three 3-point field goals by Mike Balogun.

Henderson's first points of the half came at the 13:47 mark on a layup by Perkins to end the Reddie scoring drought.

The Reddies would never recover from Arkansas Tech's second half outburst as Henderson would make just 7-of-29 shots in the half for 24 percent including going 0-for-11 from beyond the arc.

Murphy finished the game with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Kozan totaled 14 points to lead the Reddies. Perkins also reached double-figures with 11 points.

ATU was led by Balogun's 14 points, while Tyler Friedel added 12.

Henderson State finished the game shooting 22-for-68 from the field for 32 percent shooting, including just 4-of-23 from 3-point range.

Meanwhile, Arkansas Tech made 13-of-28 three-point field goals and finished the game shooting 45 percent from the field making 24-of-53 attempts.

Henderson State will return home to take on the Harding Bisons on Thursday night, with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
