Box Score Henderson State suffered its first loss of the season as the Reddies fell to Harding 3-0, Friday in Great American Conference baseball action at Clyde Berry Field.
In a classic pitchers dual, the two teams were limited to just seven hits with only one earned run allowed.
Harding took a 2-0 lead in the third-inning scoring a pair of unearned runs.
Kyler Offenbacker led off the inning with a hard hit ball to third which was mishandled.
Offenbacker advanced on a wild pitch before advancing to third on a Harrison Hunter bunt single to put runners on the corners.
John Chapman put down another bunt to score Offenbacker as he beat the throw home. Hunter would later score on a ground out by Davis Richardson.
Claude Johnson got the first hit for the Reddies in the fourth-inning but the Reddies were unable to scratch for a run.
The Bisons, 5-2 on the year, added a run in the seventh as Hunter singled to left field to plate Shane Kinnear who walked and advanced to second when Offenbacker was hit by a pitch.
The Reddies put the leadoff runner on base in the seventh as
Jordan Taylor singled to center field. Again, Henderson State was unable to score as the Bisons continued to make some great defensive plays.
Collin Campbell pitched eight innings for the Bisons, giving up three hits and striking out four batters to pick up the win.
Colton Lorance had a solid outing for the Reddies surrendering two unearned runs on two hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Johnson, Taylor and
Matt Evans each had a single for the Reddies.
The two teams will continue the three-game series with a double-header on Saturday with the first pitch set for Noon at Clyde Berry Field.
