Poor weather conditions have altered Henderson State's baseball series at Arkansas Tech this weekend.
The 13th-ranked Reddies and Wonder Boys were originally scheduled to begin their three-game Great American Conference series on Friday in Russellville, Ark.
Due to poor field conditions, the two teams will now play a double-header on Saturday at 5 p.m., with a single nine-inning games scheduled for Sunday at Noon.
The two teams met earlier in the season for a non-conference match-up at the Houston Astros Winter Invitational with the Reddies winning 8-3.
Henderson State, 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the GAC, leads the GAC in batting average with a .305 mark, and in pitching with a 1.48 combined earned run average.
Conner Brackhahn is second in the GAC in batting with a .429 average, while
Claude Johnson is seventh at .406.
Brackhahn is 9-for-21 on the year with three runs batted in, while Johnson has a .781 slugging percentage with four doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI.
Henderson's rotation for the weekend will consist of
Colton Lorance,
Chris Hunt and
Cody Jones.
Lorance is 1-1 on the season with a 0.79 ERA in 11.1 innings of work. The lefthander from Texarkana, Texas has struck out four batters and has allowed opponents to hit just 0.83.
Hunt has a 2.08 ERA and a 2-0 record. In 13 innings of work the sophomore from Greenwood, Ark. has fanned four batters this season.
Jones is tops in the GAC having a 2-0 record and a 0.00 ERA in 12.1 innings of work. The senior from Phoenix, Ariz. has struck out nine batters and allowed just one walk while scattering eight hits.
Arkansas Tech brings a .266 team average into the weekend series.
The Wonder Boys offense is led by Bryan Heward who is hitting .395 with 10 runs batted in. Patrick Castleberry follows with a .333 average and three home runs.
ATU, 4-7 overall and 0-3 in the GAC, will send Aaron Johnson,
Cody Jones and Zach Skelton to the mound to face the Reddies this weekend.
Johnson is 0-1 with a 5.69 ERA, while Jones is 2-1 with a 6.75 ERA. Skelton will be making his fourth start having a 0-2 record with a 11.45 ERA.
