REDDIE BASEBALL TO HOST UAM IN GAC SERIES

Henderson State returns home for the first time in a month as the Reddie baseball team plays host to Arkansas-Monticello in a three-game Great American Conference series.

The series has been pushed back a day due to weather, and will now feature a single game on Saturday, March 14 at 3 p.m. and a double-header on Sunday starting at noon in Arkadelphia.

Henderson State, 12-4 overall and 6-3 in the GAC, has not played at Clyde Berry Field since February 14 when the Reddies hosted Harding.

Henderson State is currently riding a three-game winning streak, having picked up two of three over East Central this past weekend on the road and defeating Hendrix College on Wednesday in Conway.

The Reddies, ranked No. 17 in the latest Collegiate Baseball Top 30 poll, are second offensively in the GAC in team batting (.295) and second in team pitching (2.70 team ERA).

Claude Johnson leads the Reddie offense and ranks eighth in the GAC with a .368 batting average.

Jordan Taylor follows Johnson with a .364 average which include 10 runs batted in.

Lance Fields and AJ Kruzel bolstered their average in the last five games. Field is 7-for-14 with a pair of double and two home runs in the last five games and is now hitting .357 on the year.

Kruzel has gone 7 for his last 15 and has improved his hitting to .311.

Colton Lorance (1-2. 2.81 ERA), Chris Hunt (2-0, 2.12 ERA) and Cody Jones (4-1, 2.22 ERA) will make up the weekend rotation.

The Boll Weevils, 7-7 overall and 4-5 in GAC play, won its series last weekend against Southwestern Oklahoma State.

UAM has struggled offensively so far this season, and currently ranks last in the GAC in team batting with a .237 average through 14 games. However, the team's pitching has kept the results even, ranking third in the league with a 3.43 team earned run average and a .226 opponents batting average.

Junior Corey Wood leads UAM's offense and ranks fifth in the GAC with a .378 batting average. He leads UAM in hits (17), triples (3), total bases (28), slugging percentage (.622), walks (13) and on-base percentage (.524).

On the mound, UAM has three pitchers ranked in the top 10 of the GAC. Reliever Ben Aldridge ranks second in the GAC with a 1.02 ERA, starter Zach McKnight follows in third with a 2-1 record and a 1.65 ERA. Starting pitcher Austin Braddock is seventh in the league with a 2.16 ERA and a 3-1 record.
