Henderson State returns to Great American Conference play as the Reddies face Southern Arkansas in a three-game series beginning Saturday in Conway, Ark.
Again weather has forced a change in the schedule as the two teams have been forced to move the series from Magnolia to the campus of the University of Central Arkansas.
The Reddies and the Muleriders will play a single game on Saturday at 4 p.m. and conclude with a double-header on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Henderson State has not played at Clyde Berry Field since Feb. 14, and will have played 20 of its first 23 games away from home before returning on Tuesday, March 24.
The Reddies are 13-7 overall and 6-5 in league play after dropping a double-header last Sunday to Arkansas-Monticello.
Southern Arkansas, 18-9 overall and 8-4 in the GAC, took two of three games from Ouachita Baptist last weekend.
Henderson State will look to get back on track offensively as the Reddies are hitting just .258 in the last five games.
Lance Field leads the team with a .338 average which includes eight extra-base hits and 10 runs batted in.
Conner Brackhahn has been hot at the plate as of late going 6-for-13 in the last five games to improve his season average to .310 on the year.
The Reddies will go with their usual pitching rotation of
Colton Lorance,
Cody Jones and
Chris Hunt.
Lorance is 1-2 on the year with a 3.26 ERA. The senior southpaw from Texarkana, Texas has worked 30.1 innings and has struck out nine batters.
Jones sports a 4-1 record with a 2.63 ERA. The senior from Phoenix, Ariz. has fanned a team-best 23 batters in 17 innings of work.
Hunt has the team's best ERA at 2.34 while posting a 2-1 record. The sophomore from Greenwood, Ark. has notched 34.2 innings on the hill while recording 17 strikeouts.
Southern Arkansas has a team average of .294 with Chase Harvey leading the Muleriders at .330. Harvey has hit seven doubles this season while collecting 16 RBI.
Billy Germaine provides the power for SAU having hit five home runs to go along with six doubles and a team best 25 RBI.
SAU will send Preston Gray to the mound for the first game. Gray is 4-3 on the year with a 3.60 ERA.
Landon Simpson and Hunter Mayo will pitch the double-header on Sunday with Simpson having a 4-3 record and a 1.89 ERA, while Mayo is 4-0 with a 2.86 ERA
