Henderson State returns to Clyde Berry Field for the first time since February 14 as the Reddies play host to Southwestern Oklahoma in a three-game Great American Conference series beginning Friday.
The two teams will play a single nine-inning game beginning at 2 p.m. Friday, followed by a double-header on Saturday with the first pitch set for Noon.
Henderson State, 15-9 overall and 8-6 in GAC play, took two of three games from Southern Arkansas last weekend before dropping a mid-week game to the Muleriders on Wednesday.
The Reddies enter the series with a .278 batting average along with a .357 slugging percentage.
Lance Fields lead the Reddies offensively with a .349 average along with 12 runs batted in. In the last 10 games, the senior from Paris, Texas has gone 15-fior-36 for a .417 average.
Claude Johnson follows with a .326 batting average (31-of-95) including a team-best 21 RBI.
Conner Brackhahn has also picked things up offensively going 8-for-21 in the last eight games to improve his season average to .308.
Henderson State is tops in the league in pitching with a team earned run average of 2.82. Opponents are hitting .241 off of the Reddie hurlers.
Colton Lorance,
Cody Jones and
Chris Hunt will make up Henderson's pitching rotation for the series.
Lorance is 1-2 on the year with a 3.25 ERA. The senior southpaw from Texarkana, Texas has worked 36 innings and has limited opponents to a .224 batting average.
Jones sports a 4-1 record with a 2.16 ERA which ranks sixth in the GAC. The senior from Phoenix, Ariz. has fanned a team-best 28 batters in 33.1 innings.
Hunt has been equally impressive having a 2.88 ERA while posting a 2-2 record. The sophomore from Greenwood, Ark. has notched 40.2 innings on the hill while recording 19 strikeouts.
Southwestern Oklahoma enters the series with a 13-15 overall record and a 7-9 mark in league play.
The team bolsters a .243 average with Brian Holt leading the way with a .302 average along with a team best 17 RBI.
Korbin Polston is the Bulldogs' power-hitter having a .264 average. Polston has collected eight doubles, hit two home runs and has driven in 14 runs.
Henderson State will face a pitching staff that has posted a 4.06 ERA while limiting its opponents to a .255 batting average.
The Bulldog rotation consists of Jon Chidester, Conner Garcia, and Austin Hilton.
Chidester is 4-3 on the year with a 2.19 ERA. He has struck out 56 batters in 53.1 innings on the bump.
Garcia has worked 34.1 innings and is 1-4 with a 4.46 ERA, while Hilton is 2-3 with a 4.50 ERA.
