Box Score Henderson State scored three runs in the seventh-inning to beat Southwestern Oklahoma 6-3, Friday at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.
The Reddies, 16-9 overall and 9-6 in the Great American Conference, totaled 11 hits with
Hunter Mayall going 4-for-4 at the plate, while
Tadarious Hawkins and
Claude Johnson had two hits each.
Henderson State got on the board first. scoring three runs in the second-inning with
Hayden Lessenberry driving home the first run with a single to right field.
The Reddies would load the bases when
Conner Brackhahn was hit by a pitch and Hawkins reaching on a single. Henderson scored two runs on a
Carlos Rodriguez fielder's choice.
Southwestern Oklahoma tied the score at 3-3 in the sixth-inning with the big blast being a two-run homer by Jacob Spring.
The Reddies would regain the lead in the seventh scoring three runs with two-outs.
Johnson started things with a single to center field followed by a
Jordan Taylor single.
Lance Fields then doubled to put Henderson on top 4-3 before Mayall collected his fourth hit, a double that scored two more runs.
Colton Lorance pitched seven innings and struck out four batters to pick up the win and improve to 2-2 on the year.
Nick Vanthillo pitched the final two innings giving up one hit and striking out two batters to earn his fourth save of the year.
The two teams will finish the series with a double-header Saturday at Clyde Berry Field with the first pitch set for Noon.
