Reddies Travel To Russellville For Final Road Trip Of Season

Henderson State will make its final road trip of the 2015-16 basketball season as the Reddies travel to Russellville on Thursday to take on Arkansas Tech with tip off set for 7:30 p.m. at Tucker Coliseum.
           
The Reddies, 6-17 overall and 5-13 in the Great American Conference, are coming off a 86-79 loss to Ouachita Baptist on Monday night in a game that saw four Reddies score in double-figures.
 
Henderson is looking to record its first sweep of a team this year as the Reddies beat the Wonder Boys 89-80 on January 21.
 
Kevin Kozan tied his season-best total of 21 points against Ouachita Baptist on Monday and averages 13.0 points per game.
 
The junior from New Lenox, Ill. has scored 900 points in his career. Kozan scored 18 points and was 4-for-5 from the 3-point arc earlier this year against ATU.           

Kaylon Tappin leads the Reddies in scoring averaging 14.2 points per contest. Tappin scored 17 points on Monday against OBU and has scored in double-figures in 11 of the last 12 games.  

Tavian Pomlee scored a career-high 18 points in the first game against the Wonder Boys. Pomlee averages 10 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.          

Arkansas Tech is 13-11 overall and 8-10 in the GAC following a 79-76 loss to Harding on Monday. The Wonder Boys are tied for eighth-place in the GAC with Southeastern Oklahoma.    

Arkansas Tech is one of the best rebounding teams in the league averaging 39.5 boards per game which ranks second in the GAC.
 
Marquis Yates leads the team averaging 16.7 points along with 4.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 44.1 percent from the field.       

Tyler Corley follows averaging 13.8 points per game while Andrew Guillory averages 12.0 points per game. Corley scored 12 points in the first game against the Reddies, while Guillory led all scorers with 20 points.       

Another player to watch is Freddy Lee who scored 19 points including hitting five 3-point field goals against HSU. Lee averages 6.7 points per game.
 
Henderson State leads the all-time series with Arkansas Tech having an 82-76 advantage in a series which dates back to 1910.
The Reddies have lost eight straight games played in Tucker Coliseum. Henderson's last win over Arkansas Tech in Russellville was a 66-42 victory on Feb. 2, 2007.

Earlier this year, Henderson shot a sizzling 74 percent in the second half to beat Arkansas Tech 89-80 at the Duke Wells Center on Jan. 21.      

The Reddies hit 17-of-23 shots from the field including 6-of-8 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Six Reddies scored in double-figures led by Pomlee's 18 points with Kozan also scoring 18 points.  Kaylon Tappin and Ben Marello had 12 points each while Zydrunas Jurgutis scored 11 and Matt Panaggio added 10.           

Thursday's double-header will be carried on 106.9 FM KYXK Arkadelphia/Gurdon with R.J. Hawk (@RJHawk) providing the play-by-play. Color commentary for the women's game provided by Athletics Media Relations Assistant Hunter Lively (@HLively). Former Reddie player and coach Grady Bean will provide the color commentary for the men's game.
 
The Domino's pregame show will air 5:15 p.m. with the women's game set for 5:30 p.m.
