Men's Basketball Troy Mitchell

HSU Returns Home to Face Harding

After having its game against Ouachita Baptist postponed on Tuesday due to weather, Henderson State returns to the Duke Wells Center to face Harding in a key GAC matchup on Thursday with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
 
Harding enters Thursday's game with a 1-13 record overall and a 1-8 record in GAC play following a 98-94 loss on Monday against Arkansas Tech. Harding scored 62 second-half points, shooting 62 percent from the field in the loss to the Wonder Boys.
The Bisons picked up their first win of the year last Saturday as they knocked off Ouachita Baptist 77-73.

Harding has had its difficulties scoring averaging 69.4 points per game which ranks last in the GAC, while defensively the squad is allowing 79.9 points per contest. The Bisons are also last in rebounding margin at -7.1.
 
Tim Wagner leads the team in scoring averaging 15.8 points including scoring 14.3 points against GAC opponents. Wagner is second in the league in made 3-point field goal with 43.
 
Last year Wagner scored 31 points against the Reddies in the game played at the Duke Wells Center. In that contest, he was 8-for-12 from the field and 11-of-12 from the foul line.
 
Reggie Anthony follows at 10.3 points per game. Anthony leads the squad in field goal percentage at 46.5 percent while also being tops in assists with 46.           

Meanwhile, Henderson will attempt to rebound from last Saturday's loss to Arkansas-Monticello.

Kaylon Tappin will be a key to getting the Reddies back on track as the senior from Little Rock has led Henderson all year averaging 19.2 points per game including 20.9 points against GAC opponents.
 
Last year, Tappin totaled 14 points in the two games against Harding, but was limited to 2 points on 1-of-7 shooting in the game played at home.
 
Josh Jones was limited to 9 points on 3-of-7 shooting on Saturday against UAM. The Memphis, Tenn. product averages 14.8 points per game while shooting 49 percent from the field.
 
Also scoring in double-figures in true-freshman Chris Parker who is averaging 13.2 points per contest while dishing out a team-best 4.4 assists per game.    
 
Henderson leads the all-time series with a 73-47 advantage. The Bisons have won the last seven meetings with Henderson's last win being a 91-88 overtime victory on Feb. 17, 2014.

The Reddies will be attempting to end a three game losing streak in games played in the Duke Wells Center.
 
Thursday's double-header will be carried on 106.9 FM KYXK Arkadelphia/Gurdon with Cyrus Wittig handling the play-by-play.
 
The Domino's pregame show will air 5:15 p.m. with the women's game set for 5:30 p.m.
