Henderson State will attempt to win its third straight Great American Conference contest as the Reddies play host to Northwestern Oklahoma on Saturday in the annual "Coaches vs. Cancer" game with tip-off set for 3 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.

The Reddies have teamed up with the American Cancer Society by participating in the "Coaches vs. Cancer 3-Point Challenge." The 2018 Coaches vs Cancer 3-Point Challenge unites college and high school basketball teams from across country for a common cause – ending cancer.

Fans can help the American Cancer Society and the Reddies beat cancer on the court by pledging a contribution for every 3-pointer the men's basketball team makes during the month of February (nine games).

Donation buckets will be set up at both entrances of the Duke Wells Center for fans to help support the cause, and all checks can be made payable to: American Cancer Society. Your support will help the American Cancer Society lead the fight for a world without cancer.

An anonymous individual has generously agreed to match all donations that are raised throughout the month of February up to $1,000.

Henderson has won back-to-back GAC games for the first time this year after recording a 94-67 win over Southwestern Oklahoma on Thursday. The Reddies will be attempting avenge a 77-63 loss to Northwestern Oklahoma in Alva back in November.

Kaylon Tappin went over the 20-point mark for the 11th time this season on Thursday with a 21-point performance against Southwestern Oklahoma. The senior from Little Rock continues to lead the GAC in scoring averaging 19.6 points per game. Tappin averages 20.8 points in GAC play and is scoring 21.0 points per game in the last six contests.

Josh Jones posted his first double-double of the year on Thursday scoring 17 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. The Memphis, Tenn. junior is scoring 14.8 points per game while shooting 42 percent (35-of-83) from beyond the arc. In the first game against Northwestern, Jones led Henderson with 20 points.

Chris Parker posted double-figures for the 13th time this year with 15 points against the Bulldogs. The true-freshman from Plano, Texas averages 13.1 points and 3.9 assists per game.
Northwestern Oklahoma is in a three-way tie for second in the GAC standings having a 12-5 record overall and an 8-4 league mark. The Rangers suffered a 76-68 setback to Ouachita on Thursday

Cody Halvorson leads the team in scoring averaging 15.3 points per game. Halvorson leads the GAC in 3-point field goals made with 59 and is converting on 45 percent from beyond the arc. Halvorson led NWOSU in the first meeting against the Reddies scoring 22 points, hitting five 3-pointers.

Treyvon Andres averages 12.2 points per game and leads the team in rebounds with 5.9 boards per contest. Andres ranks eighth in the GAC in field goal percentage making 55 percent of his attempts.

Also averaging double-figures is Greg Minor at 11.0 points. Minor can also shoot the rock connecting on 54 percent from the field. In the first game against Henderson, Minor scored 11 points before fouling out. Â

Northwestern Oklahoma leads the all-time series against Henderson State having a 7-5 advantage in a series that began in 2013. The Reddies have won three of the last four meetings. The Rangers recorded a 77-63 victory earlier the year in Alva, Okla. snapping Henderson's three-game winning streak against NWOSU.
