ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- After a tough loss on Saturday, Henderson State will look for a win in its last Great American Conference game of the calendar year on Tuesday when the Reddies take on Southeastern Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. in Durant, Oklahoma.
REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson (7-3, 2-2) dropped its second GAC game of the year on Saturday afternoon 73-58 to Arkansas-Monticello. The Reddies led 56-54 with under six minutes to play but were out-scored 19-2 down the stretch. HSU was 1-for-10 from the field in the final six minutes.
- The Reddies had some success last season against Southeastern Oklahoma State. HSU fell 60-58 in Durant, Oklahoma early in the season but picked up one of its biggest wins of the year over the Savage Storm in Arkadelphia, 96-75. Henderson shot the ball incredibly well in that game, hitting on 59.1 percent of its shots from the floor, which included a 13-of-24 mark from beyond the 3-point line (54.2 percent).
-Through four league games, Henderson is second in the GAC in offensive rebounding (12.5 per game) and fourth in the conference in turnover margin (+1.5). The Reddies have struggled on the offensive end in GAC games, however, and are last in the league in field goal percentage (39.1 percent).
- HSU has two players who average double figures in scoring:
Rel Johnson (12.7 points per game) and
Chris Parker (12.2 points per game).
Mike Fofana leads the team in rebounding with 7.6 boards per contest.
- Tuesday is the 23rd meeting all-time between Henderson State and Southeastern Oklahoma. The Reddies lead the series 14-8 and won the first-ever matchup 71-60 during the 1969-70 season.
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA
- Southeastern enters Tuesday's contest 7-1 and 3-1 in the GAC after an impressive string of league victories. The Savage Storm dropped their opener to Oklahoma Baptist in overtime and since have defeated SWOSU, No. 5 Southern Nazarene by 33 points, and NWOSU 81-61.Â
- The Savage Storm are led by a three-headed monster of juniors Kevin Buckingham and Jett Jobe, as well as sophomore Adam Dworsky. Buckingham is third in the GAC in scoring (19.1 points per game), second in field goal percentage (62.1 percent), and leads the league in rebounds per game (10.9). Jobe and Dworsky are No. 1 and No. 2, respectively in the conference in assists/turnover ratio and both are in the top five overall in assists per game, with Dworsky averaging 5.8 and Jobe averaging 5.3.
- SOSU boasts the top scoring offense in the GAC as a team in league action (81.5 points per game) and has more assists than any team in the conference (19 per game).
