Henderson State begins a crucial part of its schedule as the Reddies will play four of their next five games at home beginning Thursday against Southeastern Oklahoma with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.

The Reddies, 11-10 overall and 6-9 in league play, are tied for ninth in the GAC standings with seven games remaining. The top eight teams advance to the conference tournament in Bartlesville, Okla. March 1-4.       Â

Kaylon Tappin continues to lead the GAC in scoring averaging 19.3 points per game while shooting nearly 87 percent from the foul line. In the last five games, the senior from little rock has averaged 20 points and has made 29-of-32 free throws.

Josh Jones averages 13.9 points per game, but has been limited to 8.0 points in the last three contests. A 40 percent shooter from beyond the arc, the Memphis native scored 14 points in the first game this year against Southeastern. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

Chris Parker was 14-for-14 from the foul line and totaled 16 points last Saturday against Southern Nazarene. The true freshman from Plano, Texas averages 13.2 points per game along with dishing out 3.9 assists per contest. In the last five games, Parker is scoring 14.0 points per contest and has converted on 27-of-29 free throws.

Southeastern Oklahoma enters the contest with an 11-9 overall record and a
10-5 mark in the GAC play. SOSU is 7-3 against Arkansas GAC opponents.

For the season, the Savage Storm averages 74.0 points per game offensively which ranks 10th in the GAC. On defensive, opponents are averaging 75.8 points per game.

Markell Henderson leads the team averaging 15.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Henderson scored 13 points in the first game against the Reddies.

Kevin Buckingham averages 14.8 points and a team-best 6.8 boards per game. Buckingham earned GAC Player of the Week honors last week after averaging 18.5 points and 11 rebounds in two games.
Henderson and Southeastern meet for the 21st time in a series which dates back to 1969. The Reddies lead the series with a 12-8 advantage after losing earlier this year to the Storm. The Reddies are 9-0 all-time against SOSU in games played at the Duke Wells Center.       Â
Thursday's double-header will be carried on 106.9 FM KYXK Arkadelphia/Gurdon with Cyrus Wittig handling the play-by-play.
