ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- Henderson State will go for its fourth-straight conference win on Saturday when the Reddies host Arkansas Tech at 3 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.
REDDIES REPORT
- The Reddies (11-5, 6-4) picked up their third-straight Great American Conference win on Thursday night when they got past rival Ouachita Baptist 82-69 on the road. Henderson got 19 points from
Mike Fofana and shot 68 percent from the floor (17-for-25) in the second half.
-
Chris Parker overtook
Rel Johnson on Thursday as the team's leading scorer for the season with a 15-point effort in the win over the Tigers. Parker was 4-of-6 from 3-point range against OBU and now averages 12.4 points per game to Johnson's 12.3.Â
- Henderson and Arkansas Tech met back on Dec. 1 in Russellville, Arkansas, when the Reddies snuck past the Wonder Boys 80-79. Johnson got fouled on a layup with 10 seconds remaining and completed the three-point play to give HSU the one-point victory. ATU's R.J. Glasper hit a put-back at the buzzer that would have won the game for the Wonder Boys, but he did not get the shot off in time.
- A win over Arkansas Tech on Saturday would give Henderson its fourth-straight conference victory. The Reddies have not won four-consecutive league games since January of 2012 and have never won five-straight contests in the GAC.
- Saturday's contest is the 165th meeting all-time between HSU and ATU. Tech leads the series 84-80 but Henderson has won the last three in a row over the Wonder Boys dating back to last season.
SCOUTING ARKANSAS TECH
- The Wonder Boys enter Saturday's game 4-11 overall and 2-7 in GAC play. Tech has won two of its last three league games, including a win over defending champion Southern Nazarene, after starting the year 0-6 in the league.
- Tech is led by sophomore guard R.J. Glasper, who is third in the conference in scoring with an average of 19.3 points per game. Glasper, who transferred to ATU from Arkansas two seasons ago, also leads the Wonder Boys in assists (5.5). ATU's leading rebounder, Will Adler, averages 6.3 boards per game and has hit more 3-pointers this season (60) than any player in the GAC.
- Arkansas Tech has taken and made more 3-pointers than any team in the conference by a significant margin. ATU has shot 526 3-pointers this season and made 188 of them (35.7 percent). Southeastern Oklahoma is second with 406 takes and 147 makes from beyond the arc. The Wonder Boys average 12.5 threes per game.
