Henderson Primed for Thursday Night Battle with SAU

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Henderson State will aim for another win against a Great American Conference front runner on Thursday night when the Reddies face Southern Arkansas at 7:30 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.

REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson (13-7, 8-6) put together one of its best performances of the year last Saturday in an 83-71 win over Oklahoma Baptist. The Reddies got a career-high 19 points from Raekwon Rogers and out-rebounded one of the best rebounding teams in the league 47-29.

- The Reddies are currently in a three-way tie for fifth place in the Great American Conference with a league record of 8-6. HSU, Southeastern Oklahoma State, and Arkansas-Monticello are all just one game back of fourth-place East Central, who is 9-5. Henderson has a head-to-head win over SOSU and a head-to-head loss to UAM. The top eight teams in the GAC at season's end will earn bids to the conference tournament in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

- HSU ranks fifth in the conference in scoring offense (74.6 points per game) and fourth in the league in field goal percentage defense (41.9 percent shooting for opponents). The Reddies grab the second-most rebounds of any team in the GAC (38.1 per game) and are second in the conference in offensive rebounds per game (12.8).

- Henderson will be looking for some revenge against rival SAU on Thursday night. In the first meeting this season, which was the conference opener for both squads, the Muleriders hit 12 3-pointers and shot 50 percent from the floor to defeat HSU 94-71.

- The Reddies have lost just twice at home all season. SAU is 10-0 at home this year but just 5-3 on the road, which includes losses in its last two GAC road games.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
- Southern Arkansas is having one its best seasons in recent memory and enters Thursday night's contest 16-4 overall and 11-3 in GAC play. The Muleriders are in sole possession of second place in the conference standings and are ranked 10th in the Central Region Poll.

- SAU is balanced offensively and has four players that all average around 10 points per game: Jalen Brooks, CJ Elkins, Aaron Lucas, and Devante Brooks. Lucas and Snyder Cenecharles are both dangerous from the 3-point line, as Lucas shoots 43.8 percent and Cenecharles shoots an astounding 56.8 percent. The Muleriders are also very deep and have 10 players who are averaging 13 or more minutes per game.

- The Muleriders have the second-best scoring defense (67.8 points per game) and field goal percentage defense (40.5 percent) in the GAC. SAU also gives up the least amount of rebounds to opponents of any team in the league (31.9) and is second in the conference in steals per game (7.4).
