Henderson Seeks 10th-Straight Win Over SWOSU

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State goes for its 10th-straight win over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday night when it hosts the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.

REDDIES REPORT
- The Reddies (17-7, 12-6) stayed on course last week when they picked up two big wins over Ouachita Baptist and Harding. HSU is now the only team in the GAC with a 12-6 conference record and is just one game back of both Southeastern Oklahoma State and Southern Nazarene with four games remaining in the regular season. One more conference win will tie the Henderson program record of 13 GAC victories set last season.

- Junior forward Raekwon Rogers was honored for his terrific play on Monday when he was named GAC Player of the Week for the first time in his career. The Little Rock native was tremendous in both victories, finishing with 15 points and nine rebounds all in the second half versus OBU, then scoring a career-high 27 points on Saturday against Harding. Rogers shot 92.3% from the floor for the week and is now shooting 61.7% from the field this year.

- In conference games this year, HSU has five players who are averaging double figures: Chris Parker (13.7), Rogers (12.5), Rel Johnson (11.9), Anthony Lupardus (10.2) and Mike Fofana (10.1). The Reddies also have a sixth player, Chris Owens, who is averaging 9.9 points per game in GAC play. Henderson has been equally impressive defensively against league teams and is holding GAC opponents to 40.3% shooting from the floor and 30.7% shooting from beyond the arc.

- Henderson has had a great deal of success against SWOSU in recent years. The Reddies have won the last nine meetings between the schools dating back to late 2015 — their longest current winning streak over any league opponent. Head coach Jimmy Elgas has never lost to the Bulldogs during his tenure at HSU. The Reddies won the first matchup this year 92-74 in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

- A win over SWOSU on Thursday would be the Reddies' 12th home victory of the season — the most for the program in a single year since 2002-03 when Henderson finished 13-1 at the Duke Wells Center en route to a Gulf South title and berth in the NCAA South Regional Final.

SCOUTING SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA
- SWOSU comes into Thursday's contest 12-12 overall and 8-10 in GAC play. The Bulldogs are the most improved team in the conference this season after going just 4-39 in conference play in the last two years combined. Southwestern is in the hunt for its first GAC Tournament berth since 2015-16.

- The Bulldogs are led by guard Damion Thornton who leads the team in both scoring (19.3 points per game) and rebounding (8.1 per game). Thornton has scored in double figures in every game this year but two and had 21 points against the Reddies in the first meeting between the two teams.

- Southwestern Oklahoma uses swarming defense to win games and leads the GAC in turnovers forced (459) and turnovers forced per game (19.1). The Bulldogs lead the league with a turnover margin of +4.7 for the season and are third in the conference in steals per game (8.5).
