Reddies Face SOSU in Pivotal Late-Season Clash

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — In a season full of big games, Henderson plays perhaps its biggest on Thursday when it travels to Durant, Oklahoma to take on Southeastern Oklahoma State at 7:35 p.m. in the NCAA DII Showcase Game of the Week.

REDDIES REPORT
- The Reddies and Savage Storm, both tied at 14-6 in GAC play, will meet with conference tournament seeding and last gasp regular season title hopes on the line. With a win, Henderson will clinch a top-two seed at the GAC Tournament in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and will keep its chances alive for a regular season championship. HSU still needs Southern Nazarene, who is one game up on the league in the standings with two games remaining, to lose one of its final two contests in order to have a chance at a share of the GAC title.

- Henderson has won four-straight games and 13 of its last 17 overall. The Reddies four losses in that span of games came by a combined 10 points. Two losses came by a single point and a third was in triple overtime. HSU's 14 GAC victories is the most for the program since the league's inception in 2011 and its most overall since winning 14 Gulf South Conference contests in 2002-03. One more win would be the most league victories for the Reddies since they joined NCAA Division II in 1993 and would give the program its first 20-win season since 2006-07.

- A very deep team, HSU has four players scoring in double figures on the year: Chris Parker (14.9), Raekwon Rogers (12.1), Rel Johnson (11.2) and Anthony Lupardus (10.2). Another two — Mike Fofana and Chris Owens — average over nine points per game.

- The Reddies have been inside the Top-10 in the country in field goal percentage defense for the entire season and are currently No. 6 in the nation (40.3% shooting for opponents). Henderson is No. 2 in the GAC in both scoring offense (83.1 points per game) and turnover margin (+2.3), and is third in scoring margin (+9.2).

- HSU won the first meeting of these teams back on Jan. 25 in Arkadelphia, 67-63. The Reddies ended the game on an 11-1 run to rally in the final seconds. Henderson also won the last game between the two sides in Durant, Oklahoma, when it upended first-place Southeastern 80-65 last season.

SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA
- The Savage Storm come into Thursday's showdown 20-7 and tied with the Reddies at 14-6 in GAC play. SOSU is 10-1 at home this season and is 22-2 at home overall in the last two years.

- Southeastern is led by two of the best players in the GAC: Kevin Buckingham and Adam Dworsky. Buckingham was the 2019 GAC Player of the Year and averages 21.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Dworsky, SOSU's point guard, is scoring 14 points per game and dishing out a league-leading 8.6 assists per contest. The Savage Storm have five players scoring in double figures.

- SOSU leads the conference in field goal percentage in GAC games (49.5%) and has nearly 50 more assists than the next closest team in the league (17.4 per game). Southeastern is shooting 38.9% from beyond the arc collectively and has hit 276 3-pointers this year — the second-most in the conference.
