Henderson Men Shoot for Key Win in Magnolia

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — After dropping two hard-fought contests last week in Oklahoma, Henderson State will aim to get back on track Thursday when it travels to Magnolia to face Southern Arkansas at 7:30 p.m.

REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson (14-6, 9-5) fell 71-67 to Southern Nazarene and 78-77 to Oklahoma Baptist last week in Oklahoma. The Reddies have five total losses on the year and the last four have all been on the road by a combined 13 points.

- The Reddies are currently in a tie for third-place in the GAC standings along with East Central at 9-5 in conference play. HSU is two games back of first-place Southeastern Oklahoma State and a single game back of second-place Southern Nazarene with eight conference contests remaining in the regular season.

- HSU continues to lead the GAC in field goal percentage defense (39.5% shooting for opponents) and ranks fifth in all of NCAA DII in that category. The Reddies are also 13th in the nation and second in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage defense (30.6%).

- GAC road trips have not been kind to the Reddies of late. Henderson has dropped its last three conference road games going back to Jan. 18 at Arkansas Tech. The Reddies are unbeaten at home this year (10-0) but just 3-5 away from the Duke Wells Center and 2-5 in league play.

- Raekwon Rogers now leads the GAC in field goal percentage this season (59.6%). Rogers is 87-of-146 overall from the floor for Henderson and has played fantastic in recent games. The Little Rock native notched double-doubles in each of HSU's last two contests and has scored in double figures in six-straight games.

- Henderson has won three-straight meetings with SAU but has not won in Magnolia since the 2013-14 season. The Muleriders have won each of the last five meetings between the two schools at the W.T. Watson Center.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
- The Muleriders enter Thursday night's contest 10-10 overall and 7-7 in conference play. SAU had won five-straight games before falling to NWOSU last Saturday on the road in Alva, Oklahoma.

- SAU is led by forward Devante Brooks who leads the team in both scoring (14.3 points per game) and rebounding (8.5 points per game). Brooks is a very strong offensive rebounder and leads the GAC in both Toal offensive rebounds (71) and offensive rebounds per game (3.6).

- Southern Arkansas is the only team in the GAC who defends the 3-point line better than HSU. The Muleriders are No. 5 nationally in 3-point field goal percentage defense (29.2% shooting for opponents).  SAU is also a strong rebounding team and is third in the conference in rebounding margin (+4.7).

- In the first meeting with Henderson this season in Arkadelphia, SAU fell 58-41 and was held to season-lows in points (41), field goal percentage (23.5%) and made field goals (12).
