ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State begins its quest for a Great American Conference Tournament title on Friday when it opens postseason play against No. 6 seed Arkansas-Monticello at 2:15 p.m. in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

REDDIES REPORT
- The Reddies (20-8, 15-7) finished the regular season with a big 99-94 overtime victory at East Central. The win gave the program its first 20-win season since 2006-07 and its high water mark for conference victories since joining NCAA DII in 1993.

- For the second-straight season Henderson had three players earn All-GAC honors. Junior guard Chris Parker became just the third player from HSU to capture First Team All-GAC recognition, while junior Forward Raekwon Rogers was named to the Second Team and senior forward Mike Fofana garnered an Honorable Mention nod.

- HSU has struggled mightily against Arkansas-Monticello in recent years and has lost eight-straight meetings with the Weevils going back to 2015. In those eight losses, five were by six points or less, including both matchups this season. UAM erased a 19-point first half deficit to defeat the Reddies 86-82 in Monticello, then handed Henderson its only home loss of the year, 81-80, in January.

- The No. 3 seed at the GAC Tournament and third-place conference finish is the second-best GAC mark ever for Henderson. The Reddies were the No. 2 seed in the inaugural GAC Tournament in 2011-12 but fell to No. 7 seed SWOSU in the first round. HSU is making back-to-back trips to Bartlesville for the first time since going in 2012-13 and 2013-14. HSU is 3-5 all-time at the conference tournament.

- Close games typically did not fall in Henderson's favor in the 2019-20 regular season. HSU lost seven GAC games and six of those contests were decided by a combined 16 points. Two of the Reddies' conference losses came in overtime, including one in triple overtime, and two came by a single point. Henderson was 3-6 in league games decided by five points or fewer.

- Defense was the calling-card all season for the Reddies. Henderson led the GAC and was inside the Top-10 in NCAA DII for the entire year in field goal percentage defense. HSU is currently No. 9 in the country and is holding opponents to just 40.6% shooting for the season. The Reddies also led the GAC in 3-point field goal percentage defense (31.2%).

- Against GAC competition this year, Henderson ranks first in field goal percentage defense (40.8%) and 3-point field goal percentage defense (30.6%), first in steals (8.7 per game), second in scoring offense (83.6 points per game), second in turnover margin (+2.41), third in scoring margin (+8.5) and fifth in scoring defense (75.0 points per game allowed).

- Depth has been a key for HSU this year and the Reddies boast 10 players who average 12 or more minutes per game. Of those 10, seven are averaging 20 minutes or more. Henderson has four players who averaged double figures in points for the season and two more who averaged more than nine points per game.

- The No. 3 seed is 4-4 all-time against the No. 6 seed at the GAC Tournament. The team seeded at No. 3 on the men's side has advanced all the way to the championship game just once in 2016. That season the No. 3 seed defeated the No. 1 to win the tournament title. No GAC Tournament champion on the men's side has ever come from any seed other than No. 1, No. 3 or No. 5.
