LIVE VIDEO | LIVE STATS

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State plays its first home game of the 2021-22 season on Wednesday night when it welcomes Texas College into the Duke Wells Center at 7:30 p.m. The meeting is the 12th all-time between the Reddies and the Steers.

REDDIES REPORT
- The Reddies roll into their home opener on the heels of a big comeback win over Missouri Western at the Central Region Challenge in Kansas City on Sunday. HSU trailed 66-56 with 4:33 remaining in the game, but closed regulation on a 14-4 run to force overtime. In the extra period, Henderson held the Griffons to 2-of-9 shooting from the floor and held on for an 81-77 win. Missouri Western went to the NCAA DII Tournament last season.

- JUCO transfer guard Alvin Miles has been a spark so far for the Reddies off the bench. Miles, from Memphis, Tennessee, currently leads the team in scoring (11.5 points per game) and assists (3.5 per game). The sophomore scored 16 points in the win over the Griffons and hit the game-tying jumper with 13 seconds left in regulation.

- Senior Xavier Davenport has also had a strong start to the year for HSU. Davenport had 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting against Missouri Western and tied for the team-lead in rebounds per game (6.5).

- As a team, Henderson is shooting 44% from the field and 32.3% from beyond the arc through two contests. Malik Riddle, who is 3-for-6 from distance, is the only Reddie with more than one made 3-pointer.

- Wednesday is one of just two non-conference home games for the Reddies this season. HSU will face Pittsburg State at 2 p.m. next Wednesday, Nov. 24, before beginning GAC play at home against UAM on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m.

SCOUTING TEXAS COLLEGE
- Texas College comes to Arkadelphia on Wednesday 3-2 overall. The Steers play at the NAIA level and are members of the Red River Athletic Conference. TC last played in 2019-20 when it finished 11-18 overall and 4-13 in conference play.

- The Steers are led by freshman guard Kewon Freeman, who is averaging 15.3 points per game so far this season. Freeman played 45 minutes and scored 21 points in Texas College's win over Langston on Oct. 28. Fellow guard Montrell Horsey averages 12.8 points per game and also had a big game against Langston with 24 points.

- TC and Henderson State have met on the hardwood 11 times prior to Wednesday night. The Reddies lead the series 10-1 and are 3-0 under head coach Jimmy Elgas. HSU won the last meeting between the teams 129-88 back in 2019-20. The Steers lone win in the series came in 1987, when they defeated the Reddies 91-85.
