ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The Henderson State men's basketball team begins its quest for a second-straight GAC Tournament title on Monday night when it hosts No. 6 seed Harding at 7:30 p.m. in the opening round of play at the Duke Wells Center.

REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson State enters the GAC Tournament as the reigning champions, having won this event last season in Bartlesville. The No. 3 seed Reddies have won six of their last nine games to end the year after starting the season 3-5 overall. HSU finished the regular season as one of six teams conference-wide with a winning record. The Reddies went 2-1 against Harding in three meetings this season and have won seven of the last nine in the series.

- Defense and rebounding have been the calling cards for the Reddies this season. Henderson ranks second in the GAC in field goal percentage defense (41.1%) and fourth in scoring defense (69.2). HSU finished the regular season with the league's top rebounding margin (+6.35), and was second in the conference in rebounds per game (38.8).

- Outside shooting and turnovers have hurt HSU at times this year. The Reddies were 12th in the GAC in 3-pointers per game (5.65) and 10th in 3-point field goal percentage (32.9%). Henderson committed the most turnovers of any team in the conference during the regular season (274) and finished in 12th in assist-to-turnover margin (0.68).

- Raekwon Rogers has been a dominant force for Henderson all season long. The senior forward leads the team in scoring (13.7 points per game) and rebounding (8.2) and is second in the GAC in field goal percentage (58.7%). Rogers has scored in double figures in 14 of his last 15 games for HSU, including the last nine games in a row.

- Transfer guard Malik Riddle has also been a key figure for the Reddies offensively. Riddle averages 13.1 points per game and has been in double figures 11 times this year. The junior from Mississippi has made more 3-pointers (28) than any player on the roster this season for Henderson.

SCOUTING HARDING
- The Bisons come into the GAC Tournament 4-10 overall and in GAC play. Harding has lost six of its last seven games, including an 82-62 loss at the hands of Henderson State on Thursday evening in Arkadelphia. Monday will be the first GAC Tournament contest for HU since Mar. 2, 2017.

- Harding struggled in two if its three matchups with the Reddies this season. The Bisons defeated HSU 88-79 in the first meeting of the year in Searcy, but lost by margins of 25 and 20 in the next two contests between the teams. HU shot just 35% and 34.8%, respectively, from the field in the two losses to Henderson.

- The Bisons have the ability to score in bunches thanks to guards Ramiro Santiago and Romio Harvey, who each average over 16 points per game. The pair combined for 34 points on Thursday night against the Reddies and have scored 111 total points against Henderson in three matchups this season.
