2021 ALL-GAC TENNIS TEAMS
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – With a trip to the Great American Conference Championships still awaiting Henderson State,
Mulan Kamoe,
Franny Nyarko and
Georjemah Row were each recognized as 2021 All-GAC recipients, the league office announced.
Kamoe earned First-Team All-GAC honors with a 6-6 record at No. 1 singles and an 8-3 record at No. 1 doubles, including winning three straight singles matches and four of her final five doubles matches to close the season.
With the GAC not handing out awards in 2020 due to the season being canceled, the freshman from Nasoso Nadi, Fiji, becomes the fourth Reddie in as many years to have earned First-Team accolades under head coach
Brenda Joiner.
Senior
Franny Nyarko and junior
Georjemah Row were each selected to the All-GAC Second Team. Having spent the entire year as Kamoe's doubles partner, Nyarko boasted an 8-3 doubles record and a 5-7 overall record in singles, including ending her HSU career with three straight singles victories.
A junior out of Honiara, Solomon Islands, Row showed the most dominance at singles this year, carrying an 8-4 record at the No. 2 line, as well as being 4-2 in GAC play with doubles partner
Katie Watts at No. 2.
Row also became the second Henderson player ever to be named the GAC Tennis Player of the Week earlier this year after HSU saw a season-opening victory over the 2019 Central Region Champion Southern Arkansas Muleriders.
Jaci Ammons rounded out the Reddie award recipients with being recognized as one of six honorees of the Distinguished Scholar Athlete award.
The All-GAC quartet will look to continue the season for the Reddies when they head to the GAC Championships in Bentonville, Arkansas, where No. 5 seed HSU will face No. 4 seed Southern Arkansas Friday, April 23.
