Henderson Men Host Williams Baptist Tuesday

GAME COVERAGE LINKS

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – For the second consecutive game, Henderson State will host a non-conference in-state opponent when the Williams Baptist Eagles come to the Duke Wells Center for a 4 p.m. tip Tuesday, Nov. 22.

REDDIES REPORT
Henderson had a difficult time putting the ball in the basket in its home opener against Arkansas-Fort Smith, shooting just 28.1 percent from the field, including 25.9 percent in the second half, as the Lions came away with the inter-state matchup, 56-52. From outside the perimeter, UAFS shot 30 percent compared to HSU's 21.1 percent.

Malik Riddle posted his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds while also grabbing two steals. Leading-scorer Franck Kamgain backed up Riddle with 11 points, eight of which came from the free-throw line. The Reddie defense did hold Arkansas Fort-Smith leading scorer Payton Brown to his second fewest points of the season with 14.

Through three games, Henderson is connecting on 36.6 percent of its field goals, which is 10th in the Great American Conference. To help combat the poor shooting, head coach Jimmy Elgas' squad has remained aggressive on the offensive side of the ball with the third most free-throw attempts of anyone in the league at 59 while knocking down 71.2 percent of the freebies.

Tuesday will be HSU's first meeting with Williams Baptist since the 2007-08 season and sixth all-time. The Reddies lead the overall series 4-1, winning the first four meetings between the two programs before WBU claimed its first victory of the series in 2007, 68-61.

SCOUTING WILLIAMS BAPTIST
NAIA-member Williams Baptist has now started the season 4-1 in back-to-back years after defeating the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in an American Midwest Conference contest, 73-60. The Eagles out-rebounded UHSP 40-28 in their first conference win of the young season.

Williams Baptist has already scored over 100 twice as it is averaging 87.2 points per game. Aiding the high scoring volume has been WBU's elite shooting numbers through the first five games. As a team, the Eagles are shooting 48 percent from the field and 39.2 percent from the three-point line.

Sophomore Ben Keton leads the team in scoring with 16 points per game while WBU also boasts two other players averaging over 10 points per game; Duke Hardin (15.4 ppg) and TJ Clardy (11.0 ppg). Keton is also the Eagles' big threat from deep as the second-year guard is hitting at a 48.6 percent clip from beyond the arc.
