GAME NOTES
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Henderson State men's basketball program will play its final road game of 2022 when it meets Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Arkansas in what will be a battle between two of the four remaining undefeated conference teams in GAC competition. Tip-off from Tucker Coliseum is set for 6 p.m. Â

REDDIES REPORT
Henderson picked up its second conference win of the season last Saturday after defeating Arkansas-Monticello, 64-61. The Reddies are now 3-2 in games decided by single digits this season, including its two GAC victories. For the second consecutive contest,
Alvin Miles led the team in scoring, handing the Boll Weevils 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.
Â
22 of Henderson's 64 points came at the free-throw line compared to just seven for UAM. The aggressive play of the Reddies yielded 30 attempts at the charity stripe – the most free-throw attempts for HSU since Nov. 20, 2021 when Henderson and Arkansas-Fort Smith went to overtime. Through seven games,
Jimmy Elgas' squad has attempted 130 freebies, which is the fourth most attempts in the league, and are making 74.6 percent of the tries.
Â
Junior transfer
Zyon Patterson scored a season-high 12 points in the three-point victory, 10 of which came in the second half. In back-to-back games now, HSU has had at least four guys score in double figures.
Franck Kamgain continues to lead the squad with 13.7 points per game, followed by
Malik Riddle with 10.6 points.
Â
Monday's showdown with the Wonder Boys will feature two teams who pride themselves on their defense. As of Friday, Dec. 9, Arkansas Tech boasts the No. 1 scoring defense in the GAC at 63.8 points per game while HSU occupies the No. 3 spot with 67.7 points. The Reddies do hold a slight advantage on the offensive end, scoring 69.9 points per game compared to Tech's 65.5 points.
Â
In what will be the 174th all-time meeting between Henderson and Arkansas Tech, HSU leads the overall series, 91-82. However, ATU has won the last two meetings, including last year's game in Russellville, 79-65. The Wonder Boys' current two-game winning streak is the longest streak in the series for the green-and-gold since they won three in a row from 2016 to 2017.
Â
SCOUTING ARKANSAS TECH
After losing its first four games to open the season, Arkansas Tech has rattled off four straight. Like Henderson, ATU has won each of its first two conference games by single digits, including its most recent overtime victory over Ouachita Baptist, 74-65. All but two of the Wonder Boys' eight games this season have been decided by single digits, of which they are 3-3.
Â
As an entire unit, one of the best things Tech does is protect the ball and force turnovers. The Wonder Boys lead the GAC with a plus-five turnover margin as forward D'Rell Roberts and guard Taelon Peter are both among the league's Top-5 in steals per game. Aiding in the defensive effort is forward Wes Harris, who is tied for the second in the conference with 1.8 blocks per game. Â
Â
Offensively, the aforementioned Peter is eighth in the GAC with 15.4 points per game and has scored in double figures in six straight outings. In last year's home victory against HSU, Peter scored a game-high 23 points. Forwards Harris and Roberts back up Peter with 12.8 and 10.3 points, respectively, with Harris also leading the team in rebounds at 7.1 a game.
