Henderson Set to Face ECU for Second Time on Saturday

LIVE COVERAGE LINKS | GAME NOTES

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State plays its final regular season game in the state of Oklahoma on Saturday when it travels to Ada, Oklahoma to face off with East Central for the second time this week at 3 p.m. HSU has not faced ECU in the Kerr Activites Center in almost two years.

REDDIES REPORT
- The Reddies battled to the final seconds on Thursday night in Durant, Oklahoma but fell to Southeastern Oklahoma State 85-80. The Savage Storm hit their first five 3-pointers and never trailed in the contest, but HSU was able to get within four points in the final minute of the game after falling behind by as many as 17 in the first half.

- Senior Yuri Swinford has had a big week for HSU. On Monday night, Swinford pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds in the overtime win over ECU. He followed up that performance with a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead Henderson against SOSU. Swinford is the Reddies' leading rebounder with an average of 5.9 per game.

- Alvin Miles continued his strong play in defeat on Thursday, as he gave the Reddies 12 points and five assists off the bench. Miles has now scored in double figures in eight straight games — the longest such streak by any player on the team this season. Miles has also been terrific at the line for HSU and is shooting 89.1% (57-of-64) for the year.

- Henderson has struggled with fouls this season and that trend reared its ugly head for the Reddies against the Savage Storm. HSU was whistled for 27 fouls compared to just 11 for SOSU, and shot 18 less free throws than Southeastern. In 19 GAC games this year, the Reddies have been called for more fouls than their opponent 17 times. They have only won the foul battle one time, against SOSU in January, when the Storm were called for 14 fouls and HSU was called for 13.

- Three-pointers played a big role in Monday night's matchup with ECU. Twelve of the Tigers' 23 made shots in the game were 3-pointers and HSU made 10 on the other end — its second-most in a game this season. The 22 combined threes were the most in any single Henderson State contest this year.

SCOUTING EAST CENTRAL
- The Tigers come into Saturday's game 9-14 overall and 7-10 in GAC play. East Central had lost four-straight prior to Thursday night, when it defeated Ouachita Baptist 76-61. ECU is currently in eighth place in the league standings and clinging to the No. 8 seed for the GAC Tournament.

- East Central was without its leading scoring and rebounder, Josh Apple, on Monday night in Arkadelphia. Apple, who averages 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, has missed each of the Tigers' last three games. Jalen Crutchfield and Jakeem Acres hurt the Reddies in the first matchup, with each making four 3-pointers.

- ECU ranks fifth in the GAC in scoring offense (71.5 points per game) and 11th in scoring defense (74.7 points per game allowed). The Tigers are last in the league and shooting 30.2% from beyond the arc in conference play, but hit 12 against HSU on Monday.
