2023 ALL-GAC TEAMS
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – On the eve of the 2023 GAC Tournament,
Ashley Farrar earned First Team All-GAC honors for the Henderson State women's basketball team while
Franck Kamgain and
Alvin Miles received All-Conference Honorable Mention accolades, the league announced Wednesday.

Along with the awards on the court, Farrar and Kamgain were also named Distinguished Scholar Athletes for their work in the classroom this semester. On the women's side,
Alee McClendon and
JJ Eddens were two of just six individuals around the conference to be recognized as Elite Scholar Athletes.
Bobbi Bazzle joined Farrar as a Distinguished Scholar Athlete.

Farrar, who was named All-GAC Second Team last season, was placed on the First Team All-Conference squad after finishing the 2022-23 regular season second in the league and 15th in NCAA Division II with 19.7 points per game. The Green Forest, Arkansas native has secured 15 20-point games this year, including a current five-game streak with 20 or more.

The scoring phenom logged 44 points against Southern Arkansas earlier this season, which was the second most points ever scored in a single game for Henderson. Her 552 points is currently the fifth most in a single campaign in program history and is just 35 points shy of Saprina Reed's fourth-place mark of 587. For her career, Farrar's 1370 points is the fifth most in program history.

On the men's side, this is both Kamgain's and Miles' first time to land on the All-GAC team in any capacity. Kamgain is 13th in the league with a team-high 13.9 points per game. Earlier in the season, the former-University of Missouri-Kansas City transfer tallied 12 straight double-digit scoring outings, which is the longest streak for an HSU player since Kaylon Tapping rattled off 18 consecutive such games during the 2017-18 season.

Miles has delivered a brilliant past month of basketball, earning him the Honorable Mention nod. During the month of February, the junior point guard has averaged 16 points, 6.8 assists and 4.2 rebounds while shooting 54.0 percent from the field. For the season, Miles is second on the team with 11.8 points per game and is second in the conference with 4.6 assists per game.

The Memphis, Tennessee native has 130 assists on the season, which is currently the 10th most in school history for a single season. Miles is just three shy of passing Terry Deloney for ninth all-time and seven short of surpassing John Hansen's mark for eighth. Miles also finished the regular season fourth in the league with a 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Farrar, Kamgain and Miles will look to continue their All-Conference-worthy play into the GAC Tournament. Both teams will meet their first-round opponent Friday, Mar. 3 as
Jill Thomas' group faces off with Ouachita Baptist in a special GAC Tournament edition of the Battle of the Ravine at 2:15 p.m. while
Jimmy Elgas' squad takes on Southeastern Oklahoma State at 8 p.m.
