RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Henderson State met the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs in Russellville Monday afternoon. With the two teams playing until clinch, the Reddies downed SMSU, 4-0, for HSU's second sweep of the season.
Henderson began the match by sweeping doubles play, with
Marianna Murcia and
Tirzah Bailey defeating Mustangs Faith Madikwe and Roz Oye for the first doubles win, 6-1. Murcia and Bailey are now 6-0 at No. 3 doubles for head coach Annabel Harvey's bunch.
Mulan Kamoe and
Kristina Kozlova claimed the doubles nod with the duo's third straight win, 6-1, before
Jenna Kate Bohnert and
Haarini Balakrishnan completed the sweep, 6-3.
With the Reddies just three singles wins away from clinching the match, Bohnert won all 12 games at No. 4 singles over her Southwest Minnesota's Camila Paccieri, 6-0, 6-0. Bohnert is 4-2 at the No. 4 spot and 1-0 at No. 3.
Danna Nunez finished shortly after her at the No. 6 line, 6-1, 6-1. Kozlova then clinched the overall match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2. Both ladies are 3-3 and 4-3 at their respective lines, respectively.
Henderson St. (4-3) will return to the Bettye Wallace Tennis Center for the season's first Battle of the Ravine in non-conference action Friday, Mar. 10 at 2 p.m.
