HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The No. 20 Henderson State men's golf team shoots 4-over 292 on the last day to claim its second GAC Championship in two years with a final team score of 1-under 863 at the Par 72 Hot Springs Country Club.
The Reddies finished 14 strokes ahead of second-place Southern Arkansas (+13) and 15 better than third-place Harding (+14).
First-Team All GAC honoree
Miller Harris led the 45-player field with a tournament-low score of 7-under 209 to claim the individual win. In the third round, the Carthage, Texas native carded an even-par with four birdies, including one on the 18
th hole to secure his first-place finish.
Rounding out the top five, All-Second Team GAC recipient
Ethan Wilkins finished the GAC Tournament fifth individually in his first year as a Reddie with a final score of 1-under 215. The senior from Sussex, Wisconsin posted a 2-over par score in the final round with a birdie on hole 12.
Alex Hadden, who was named All-Second Team GAC, placed sixth after 54 holes with a 1-over 217 score across three rounds. Hadden shot 3-over 75 on day and logged four birdies. Freshman
Cooper Williams concluded his first GAC Tournament tied for 14
th place on the leaderboard after posting a 7-over 233. Williams recorded a team-high five birdies on his way to a 1-under par finish in round three.
GAC Player of the Year
Nathan Cossement rounded out the five-bag in 35
th place, shooting 14-over 230 over 54 holes. The Wavre, Belgium native ended the last day of play 6-over par and had three birdies on the final nine holes.
No. 20 Henderson State now sets its eyes on the NCAA Central/Midwest Regional Tournament in Winona, Minn. on May 10-12.
