WGCA TOP-25 PRESEASON POLL
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - The Henderson State women's golf team came in at No. 6 in the nation in the preseason edition of the Women's Golf Coaches Association Top-25 Poll, marking the highest preseason ranking the women's golf program has ever garnered.
Defending National Champion Dallas Baptist was voted the unanimous top team in the country, followed by Lynn University and Nova Southeastern, who knocked out the Reddies in last season's National Semifinals. Henderson was the highest ranked Central Region team, ahead of Central Missouri, which came in at No. 25.
Henderson returns four of its five players from last season's semifinalist squad - the program's best finish ever. The one player missing from that 2023 squad is two-time GAC Player of the Year
Gracen Blount.
Among the returners is a pair of 2023 Honorable Mention All-Americans in
Jinna Boonbumroongsuk and
Allie Bianchi, both of whom were also unanimous All-GAC First Team recipients. Joining Boonbumroongsuk and Bianchi are defending GAC Freshman of the Year
Lily Nelson, All-GAC Second Team honoree
Daphney Tilton and
Emmie Eriksson, who was a part of the 2023 Central Region Championship group.
Head coach
Colton Cowan also brought in junior transfersÂ
Felisa Sajulga from Newman University and
Kayla Perera from Texas-Permian Basin to complete his seven-player roster for the 2023-24 campaign.
Henderson State opens competition for the upcoming season at No. 1 Dallas Baptist's home course for the DBU Women's Classic Sept. 17-19. Last year at this same event, then-No. 13 HSU bested three Top-5 teams to take the first-place trophy.
