Reddies Look to Remain Undefeated in GAC Play Versus Harding

MBB GAME NOTES: VERSUS HARDING - DECEMBER 14, 2024

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Reddies return to the Duke Wells Center after an impressive 3-0 start to GAC play. The Reddies are the only team in the GAC to start their season with three-straight wins on the road.
 
On the road this season during GAC play the Reddies are averaging 72 ppg while holding opponents to just 63.3 ppg. As a team the Reddies are shooting 36.4 percent from behind the arc during GAC play while holding opponents to under 30 percent from three-point range.
 
Against Arkansas Tech on Thursday the Reddies won in convincing fashion, 75-61. The win propelled the Reddies to 7-2 and 3-0 in GAC play.
 
Matthew Mayes once again showed why he is one of the best players in the conference. Mayes scored 19 points to go along with five rebounds and five steals. Mayes two steals down the stretch led to two fastbreak dunks and secured the win for the Reddies. Mayes leads the conference in steals per game with three.
 
Since being inserted into the starting lineup versus Kansas Christian star freshman Rondae Hill is averaging 12.5 ppg while shooting 40.6 percent from three on the season.
 
The Reddies are currently top 20 in fastbreak points per game and field goal percentage.
 
In their previous 10 matchups the Reddies are 9-1 versus Harding and are riding a nine-game winning streak dating back to February of 2022.

Harding is currently 6-3 and 2-1 in GAC play following a 63-56 victory over Arkansas-Monticello.

Harding averages 82.1 ppg while holding opponents to just 79.6 ppg. The Bisons are being outrebounded by 2.9 rebounds per game while averaging 29 rebounds per game.

The Bisons leading scorer Rylie Marshall is averaging 16.3 ppg while shooting 46.4 percent from the field and 31.5 percent from distance. Kevin McBride for the Bisons is shooting a staggering 53.7 percent from deep on 2.4 attempts per game.

In his second season as head coach Weston Jameson had led his team to a 18-20 record during his tenure. As a player with the Bisons Jameson scored 21 points in 50 minutes as a senior in his final game versus the Reddies in 2014.

Players to Watch:
 
Braydon Redd had a season high 12 points and nine rebounds versus Arkansas Tech in just 19 minutes of play.
 
Matthew Mayes is the team's leading scorer at 13.1 ppg and is top 10 in the country in steals with three steals per game.
 
HSU returns to action on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts Harding in its GAC home opener at the Duke Wells Center.
