Reddies Set to Begin Conference Play at Southeastern

MBB GAME NOTES: AT SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE - DECEMBER 5, 2024

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State Men's Basketball begins GAC play in Durant, Oklahoma, versus Southeastern.
 
The Reddies will travel to Durant for the first of a two-game road trip. HSU has hosted four-straight home games since opening the season with two contests in Kansas City. During their latest homestand, the Reddies won three straight games before losing to Christian Brothers by four.
 
Henderson is currently top 25 in the country in scoring offense, top 15 in fast break points, and top 30 in turnovers forced per game. During the Reddies' four-game winning streak, HSU's bench outscored their opponents by 119 points.
 
Standout freshman Rondae Hill scored 22 points on 9-15 shooting and 3-5 shooting from deep against Christian Brothers. Hill has started in three games this season, averaging 8.3 points per game and two assists per game. Transfer Nehikhare Igiehon has started the year off hot: the Austin, Texas, native is coming off a 14-point, eight-rebound performance versus CBU. Igiehon is averaging 11.5 points per game and a team high 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 60 percent from the field.
 
This season, the Reddies have five players averaging a steal or more per game and, as a team, they currently rank top 10 in the country in with 12.8 steals per game. The Reddies are outscoring opponents by 12 points per game on points off turnovers while only averaging 11.2 turnovers per game.
 
Southeastern comes into Thursday's game 2-4, with wins versus Dallas Christian and Arlington Baptist. Last season, the Savage Storm finished the season 23-9 and first in the GAC before falling to Southern Nazarene in the conference tournament.  
 
The Savage Storm returns just 34 percent of their scoring from a season ago. Freshman DJ Dill has stepped up early in his career averaging 15.8 ppg while shooting 50 percent from deep.
 
The Savage Storm are shooting 41 percent from deep while averaging 88 ppg and holding their opponents to just 84.2 points per game. The Savage Storm's leading returner, Landon Condiff, is averaging 13 points per game while shooting 40 percent from deep.
 
Head coach Kelly Green is in his 14th season as head coach and is 210-164 all time.
 
The Reddies are 13-11 in conference versus the Savage Storm after splitting last season's series.

The Reddies will face off against the Savage Storm tomorrow, December 5, at Bloomer Sullivan Arena in Durant, Oklahoma. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
